WHAT IS A VASECTOMY?

A vasectomy is a permanent form of male birth control in which the tubes (vas deferens) that carry sperm from the testicles to the urethra are cut, sealed, or blocked. This prevents sperm from being part of the semen—meaning ejaculation still occurs, but without sperm present.

Usually performed under local anaesthetic, it’s an outpatient procedure—you’ll go home the same day and recover at home.

WHY CHOOSE A VASECTOMY?

Finished having kids? Absolutely certain you don’t want them? You’re in the right place. A vasectomy is the most reliable way for men to take control of birth control—no pills, no schedules, no surprises. It’s quick, discreet, and gives you permanent peace of mind.

And yes—the women in your life will thank you.

  • It’s over 99 % effective at preventing pregnancy once cleared.

  • It's faster, less invasive, and typically less costly than female sterilization (tubal ligation).

  • It doesn’t affect testosterone levels, sex drive, erections, or sexual performance.

  • You want your partner to be able to ditch hormonal birth control.

  • You want to make a responsible, long-term choice for yourself and your relationship.

  • You’ll get expert, discreet care in one place—no waiting, no guesswork.

HOW OUR VASECTOMIES ARE PERFORMED

At Victoria Men’s Health Clinic, we offer No-Scalpel Vasectomies, a nearly painless, in-office procedure that takes about 15–30 minutes:

  • A small puncture (not a cut) is made in the skin.

  • The vas deferens—the tubes that carry sperm—is sealed off.

  • That’s it. No stitches, minimal downtime.

You’ll still ejaculate normally. You’ll still have the same sensation, the same sex drive, the same performance. Sex is exactly the same—just all semen, no sperm.

VASECTOMY FAQs

  • Yes—a vasectomy should be considered a permanent form of birth control. Reversal is possible but not guaranteed, and more complex than the initial procedure.

  • Not at all. Testosterone levels, erections, and sexual pleasure remain the same.

  • No. There’s no visible change, no stitches, and no impact on appearance or performance.

  • Most men describe it as mild pressure or a brief pinch. The no-scalpel method minimizes discomfort and speeds up healing.

  • You’ll still have sperm in your system for several weeks after. Keep using another form of birth control until your post-vasectomy test confirms zero sperm.

  • Minor swelling or bruising is common. Rarely, some men may experience infection or persistent ache—but serious complications are very uncommon when performed by experienced professionals.
